How Gutter Buddy® Works

At Danlee Company, gutter protection is our only business. We introduced the Gutter Buddy® system to Central Illinois nearly 30 years ago because, at the time, homeowners had very few options besides simple snap-in screens that didn’t keep debris out and often clogged quickly.

Why Gutter Buddy® Is Different

Gutter Buddy® is made from solid aluminum, designed so that:

  • No debris can enter from the front — including maple seeds, pine needles, oak debris, and other small particles that easily clog traditional gutter screens.

  • There are no gaps or openings that allow debris to rinse into the gutter, which is what causes most gutter clogs.

  • It installs under the roof shingle and works with both new and existing gutters.

  • It does NOT screw into the roof — unlike many gutter guards on the market today.

  • Each section overlaps and is secured with stainless steel screws, so it will never rust or detach from your home.

Long-Term Protection for Your Home

Because Gutter Buddy® seals off the gutter system:

  • Your gutters last longer.

  • Your fascia boards stay protected from rot.

  • You reduce the risk of ice buildup and ice damming, especially important in northern climates.
Many homeowners in Minnesota and Wisconsin install Gutter Buddy® specifically for winter protection.

When ice gets inside a clogged gutter, it expands — and that’s what causes gutters to bend, separate, or fall off homes in the spring. Gutter Buddy® prevents this by keeping the gutter completely sealed.

Installation: What to Expect

A typical installation takes 1–2 days, depending on the size of the home and any gutter repairs needed.

Before installing the cover, Danlee will:

  • Re-caulk leaking seams

  • Refurbish your existing gutters

  • Add new hangers if needed

Josh notes that most customers don’t need to purchase new gutters — the Gutter Buddy® system is designed to revive and protect the gutters you already have.
